Tourist Medical Service
For the purpose of implementing health care measures for the increased number of health care beneficiaries to be provided to tourists, tourist medical service may be organized.
A tourist medical service may be organized by a regional self-government unit, i.e. the City of Zagreb, a local self-government unit, a tourist board, another legal and natural person performing a catering activity and/or providing services in tourism, a health institution, a company performing a health activity or a private health worker, and they are also obliged to determine the period of operation of the tourist medical service during the year. The work of a tourist medical service is organized outside the public health service network.
The Ordinance on norms and standards for tourist medical service (Official Gazette No. 3/2024) prescribes minimum norms and standards regarding premises, workers and medical and technical equipment that must be met by the tourist medical service.
Due to the need to ensure the implementation of health care measures for the increased number of health care beneficiaries to be provided to tourists, the unit of regional self-government, i.e. the City of Zagreb, determines the minimum number of tourist medical services for its area based on the number of tourist arrivals in the previous year for each subsequent tourist season.
